These are part of today business of GS1 Oganization around the world. Most of threm are able to answer these questions at national level. But trade is no longer national, or ragional, it is world wide. This is why we need GEPIR GS1
Electronic Party Infromation Registry.
GEPIR is a network where GS1 organizations are connected and through which users can have access to information concerning the GS1 Member companies around the world. This network inculdes a community of about 1.000.000 companies.
This network consists of the national GEPIR services that contains basic information about GS1 member companies and are linked together through GEPIR backbone.

How does GEPIR works?

There are 3 alternative types of request:

• Search based on GTIN or SSCC
  We give a Global Trade Item Number GTIN-13. GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-14 or a Logistics Unit number (SSCC) and ask for the relative company.
  
  
• Search based on GLN
  We give a location code (GLN) and ask for the relative company or the primary GLN or all the GLNs of this company.
  
  
• Search based on the company name
  We give the company name (or part of it), we choose the country and ask information about this company in this specific country. Optionally we can limit our search within a certain city or area code.
